Attorney Edward B. O’Connell, partner at Waller, Smith & Palmer, was one of four members of the New London County Bar Association honored at the New London County Bar Association meeting held on February 15, 2018. Attorney O’Connell was honored for his 50 years as a practicing attorney and member of the New London County Bar Association.

Attorney Tracy Collins of Waller Smith & Palmer introduced Attorney O’Connell. Waller Smith & Palmer is pleased to announce that Attorney Timothy Bleasdale has returned to the firm after a fifteen-month sabbatical serving as a law clerk at the Connecticut Appellate Court.  Attorney Bleasdale served as a law clerk to Justice Lubbie Harper, Jr., and Judge Paul M. Foti during the Court’s 2016-2017 term.

As an Appellate Court law clerk, Attorney Bleasdale gained substantive appellate law experience by providing legal research and writing support to his judges.  The Appellate Court hears appeals in many areas of law, and provided Attorney Bleasdale with the opportunity to work on a variety of civil and criminal appeals.

Attorney Bleasdale will continue to focus his practice on civil and appellate litigation, as well as administrative, municipal, land use, environmental, and veterans law issues.

Attorney Bleasdale received his BA and his JD from the University of Connecticut. Before joining the firm, Attorney Bleasdale served as a law clerk to the Connecticut Superior Court in the Tolland Judicial District. He also held honors clerkships and fellowships with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and the Connecticut General Assembly.

It is with profound joy that we announce the retirement of Hughes (Toby) Griffis from Waller, Smith & Palmer. Toby joined the firm in 1972 and has served both the firm and the New London legal community with distinction and grace. Toby’s many accomplishments include Judge of Probate for Lyme, counsel for New England Savings Bank and the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors (ECAR) and chair of the New London Bank Bar Committee. Toby has long been recognized as the pre-eminent real estate attorney in New London County. Although we are sad to see our partner and friend leave the practice, we wish him a long, happy and healthy journey.
