Connecticut’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) takes effect on January 1, 2021

To our clients with employees:

Connecticut’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) takes effect on January 1, 2021.  Generally, all employers must withhold one half of one percent (0.5%) of employees’ wages to pay for employee benefits under the PFMLA.  Beginning on November 23, 2020, employers must register with the newly-organized Connecticut Paid Leave Authority.  Opt-out is limited to employers offering similar Family and Medical Leave benefits.

Please call us at (860) 442-0367 for more information on compliance with this new mandatory program.

WS&P Partner elected Board President of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra

We are proud to announce that Catherine Marrion has been elected as the 32nd President of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra.  The ECSO, which was started in 1946 and now features more than 75 musicians, including many from the Coast Guard band, has annually performed six concerts at The Garde and additional concerts in other community venues.  Due to the pandemic, the ECSO has been limited to performing smaller, outdoor concerts, while planning for concerts to resume at The Garde when it is safe for musicians and audiences.  The ECSO also serves the community through its “Music in Our Schools” program.  Waller, Smith & Palmer is honored to be a long-time supporter of the ECSO and we are grateful for its contribution to the greater New London community.
