Connecticut’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) takes effect on January 1, 2021. Generally, all employers must withhold one half of one percent (0.5%) of employees’ wages to pay for employee benefits under the PFMLA. Beginning on November 23, 2020, employers must register with the newly-organized Connecticut Paid Leave Authority. Opt-out is limited to employers offering similar Family and Medical Leave benefits.
